VIC-3D v11.4: Digital Image Correlation Software
VIC-3D 11.4 is a major release of Correlated Solutions’ digital image correlation (DIC) platform, launched in July 2026. The release focuses on dramatically streamlining FEA comparison workflows and introducing the new vicpyx Python extension system.
Key New Features in VIC-3D 11.4
vicpyx Extension System
VIC-3D 11.4 ships with the vicpyx Python module, first introduced at the iDICs industry conference. Users can run custom scripts directly inside the VIC-3D workspace without exporting data to external environments. Extensions now support:
-
End-to-end automation: Directly operate on raw data and image sequences
-
Temporal data access: Access neighboring frames for advanced analysis
-
Persistent configuration: Parameters remain consistent across sessions
The built-in extension library covers full-field data processing (cylindrical coordinates, displacement magnitude, time derivatives), extraction tools (AOI, arc length, data statistics), FEA integration (DIC-FE difference analysis, alignment and rotation motion), and Forming Limit Curve (FLC ISO 12004) analysis.
Enhanced FEA Integration
-
Intuitive Alignment Workspace: Easily adjust the position of imported FE mesh data
-
L-M Optimizer: Levenberg-Marquardt optimizer for material model estimation
-
Expanded mesh data support: Includes OBJ, STL, PLY, and other formats
Visualization & Analysis Upgrades
-
Independent secondary axes in iris extraction charts
-
Dark Mode to reduce eye strain during extended sessions
-
Professional DIC data presentation templates
-
Expanded global preferences
License-Free Read-Only Viewer
Collaborators can open and view projects in a read-only viewer without a license, enabling result exploration without modification rights.
Advanced Extensometer Placement
Place an entire array of extensometers simultaneously, covering a specimen in seconds. Individual extensometers can be precisely edited via global or pixel position, length, and direction, ensuring repeatability across specimens and tests.
Thermal Expansion Removal
Separate pure mechanical strain from thermal effects via a fully integrated extension.
