KISSsoft 2026 is the latest release of KISSsoft AG’s industry-leading software for gear and drivetrain design, set to release in April 2026 . This version introduces efficiency maps, REXS V1.7 support, new plastic gear standards, and enhanced journal bearing calculations .

Key New Features in 2026

Efficiency Maps

Flexible calculation method generating map-based results by varying torque and rotational speed. Enables clear visualization of system behavior across wide operating ranges with 3D surface, 2D color, or line representations. Supports crossover system-wide calculations and load spectrum generation .

REXS V1.7

Allows import of system models according to the REXS specification (created by FVA e.V.), the industry-wide standard for exchanging gear unit models between different software. Supports versions up to REXS 1.7 .

Short/Long Lead Hobs

Define this hob type directly in the Reference profile tab for optimized root fillet geometry or extended tool life. The adjusted root fillet geometry is considered in geometry and strength calculations .

Plastic Gear Strength (GB/T 44846-2024)

New load capacity calculation for plastic gears in accordance with GB/T 44846. Considers plastic-specific material behavior, operating conditions, and load influences. Available for cylindrical and crossed helical gears using existing plastic materials from the KISSsoft material database .

Journal Bearing Characteristics

Analytical calculation of hydrodynamic bearing characteristics including stiffness, damping, eccentricity ratio, and attitude angle at equilibrium. Available in standalone bearing module and integrated in shaft module, affecting static shaft calculation and dynamics. Based on Reynolds equations solution with 3D lubricant pressure visualization .
