Bentley Seequent PLAXIS 2D / 3D Ultimate 2025: Advanced Geotechnical Analysis Software
PLAXIS 2025.1 is the latest release of Bentley Systems’ industry-leading finite element software for geotechnical engineering. Released in November 2025, this version introduces a completely redesigned calculation input and results database, delivering significantly faster performance and improved data consistency for both 2D and 3D analyses .
What’s New in PLAXIS 2025.1
Redesigned Calculation Database
The most significant change in this release is the complete overhaul of the calculation input and results storage system :
| Improvement | Description |
|---|---|
| Improved Result Extrapolation | Better accuracy from stress points to nodes, especially for 15-node triangular elements in 2D |
| Direct Node Results | Coupled and flow calculations computed on nodes are no longer extrapolated from stress points |
| Clear “Not Available” Display | Non-existent result types now show as “Not Available” instead of misleading zeros |
| Enhanced UDSM Support | Improved reliability for User-Defined Soil Models, including state parameters when using multiple UDSMs |
| Pre-Calculation Validation | Load/anchor connectivity preprocessing moved to calculation preview for inspection before running |
| Faster Curve Generation | Drastically improved performance for pre- and post-calculation curve generation |
| Expanded Curve Results | Curve points now include all result types available for nodes or stress points, including native model and UDSM state parameters |
PLAXIS 3D Exclusive: Fixities, prescribed displacements, and loads can now be viewed in the mesh preview, allowing early identification of automatic fixity generation issues .
